The shape of things to come…? A brand spanking new blog dedicated to the bass heavy, dirty funk that we embraced to our moobs and ran with as soon as it reared it’s wobbly head on to the scene is currently taking shape and will go live in the not to distant future. It’s a collaboration of GoodGroove & Streetwise Music which will feature contributions from the likes of Nick Thayer, Moquee, Parker, Russ Cuban, Pimpsoul, Stickybuds, DJP, Dancefloor Outlaws, The Sly Players, Basement Freaks, Slynk, DJ Wood, The Captain, Qdup and little old us (Hong Kong Ping Pong), if that’s not enough to make you sit up and take notice it also has the full support of heavyweights DJ Yoda & Ali B.

All in all I’m sure you’ll agree that looks like a pretty goddamn tasty package, for an aural teaser of what’s to come go check out the holding page here:

HKPP presents B-Side 22nd Oct

By Blog No Comments

Hong Kong Ping Pong returns to The Watermans on Fri 22nd of Oct and are happy to present rising star ‘B-Side’ to the HKPP massive, FREE ENTRY as always so get your dancing pants for the 1st Ping Pong of the new term!

B-Side (aka Ben Owens) took his first steps into the dance music industry back in 2000 as a drummer with Southampton’s very own Surreal Madrid. This gave him the opportunity to play alongside artists such as Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, Bentley Rhythm Ace and Layo & Bushwacka!

The experience gained from drumming with big beat heavyweights meant that production and djing came as a natural progression to B-Side. With his unique party-rocking sets, mixing hip hop, breaks and mash-up, being played around Southampton and the south coast for the last 6yrs, he has shared the turntables with top jocks such as Stanton Warriors, Plump DJs, A-Skillz, Krafty Kuts & The Cuban Bros.

B-Side can now be found at his weekly residencies for Quids In Southampton and the AAA mash-up night. He has a fresh mixtape just released, and with new tunes being produced regularly, this is a very exciting time for B-Side. Expect big things!!

Some most excellent free tunes we’re diggin at the mo

First up is the funky Dane himself, BadboE, with this sweet take on ‘Jean Knight – Mr Big Stuff’, an early doors groover which bumps along real nice at 105bpm.

Next up our very good and ridiculously talented friend Pimpsoul along with the truly awesome DjP have (along with many others due to the Armand Van Helden & A-Track version that’s charting at the mo) had a stab at ‘Barbra Streisand – Duck Sauce’, the outcome is one almighty dancefloor wobbler of a tune!

And finally Bristols badman Parker has upped his game once again with a massive dubstepper of a tune fusing ‘Black Sabbath – Iron Man’ with Busta Rhymes vocals… you need this tune in your life!

Pull your eyes out for the best Halloween event to ever happen in Cornwall. On Saturday 30th October THE MASKED BALL will take the Sandsifter back to it’s glory days and beyond with an all night marquee event and an exciting collaboration with MY HEROES KILLED COWBOYS.
